If you can share, then you can live a life of love.” This wisdom was given to artist Harry van Gestel at a young age by his mother.
With this wisdom, in 1998 he founded the charitable organisation ‘Stichting Mercurius Communicatie door Kunst’ (Mercurius Foundation for Communication through Art). Through the sales of his artwork he supports non-profit projects, 100% of all donations are used towards these good causes. The national and international projects and initiatives that Harry supports are often aimed at children (such as Het Babyhuis or Foundling rooms), health, or improving the quality of life for disadvantaged people. Harry was born in 1953 in Reusel. He has created and shared his art all across the world, and is collected globally. A large portion of his life was spent living and working abroad as well, and he has left a trail of art from China to Europe and from North to Latin America. His beautiful works were also exhibited in 2006 by Sotheby’s Amsterdam, and the works of Harry van Gestel have been auctioned through the auction house multiple times. Harry’s impressive gallery is characterised by the many colourful paintings of different sizes. They are often abstract, minimalist and very expressive, but there is something different about all of them. As Mr Max Hemelraad (art historian and former Business Development Director at Sotheby’s) writes about Van Gestel: “Harry van Gestel
is beyond any -ism”, “His oeuvre is vast and significant, his life’s ambition is to share with all those who are willing to accept”
